In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, the Ontario Physician Reporting Centre (OPRC) would like to acknowledge that our work takes place on traditional Indigenous territories of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. We acknowledge the 46 treaties and subsequent agreements between Indigenous peoples and settlers and respect these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and water.
Our organization is based out of McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario, located on the traditional territories of the Mississauga and Haudenosaunee nations as well as the “Dish with One Spoon” wampum belt agreement. The agreement outlines the importance of sharing and caring for the lands and resources found around the Great Lakes, and to protect the land in the spirit of peace, friendship, and respect.
OPRC respects the historical presence of Indigenous people across Turtle Island, the lands now known as North America, and with this land acknowledgment we make a small step towards dismantling the continuous impacts of colonialism. OPRC is honored to be able to work and live in Ontario, and we thank the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people for the opportunity to serve all communities and territories.
